The National Organization for Marriage and Not Quitting When You’re Behind made themselves famous with their gay storm commercial. Now they’ve got a new one (embedded below). In the ad, a bunch of cute white children look up the camera and look confused about gay marriage. My knee-jerk reaction to the ad is that kids are confused by lots of things. Kids are confused by how airplanes stay up in the sky and the International Monetary Fund. That doesn’t mean we get rid of things, it means we teach the fucking children. Children have a period where they’re the least judgmental they will ever be, but if no one explains why bigotry isn’t cool, kids get mean. Having to explain something to a confused child may be tough, but it’s a lot better than what happens when you don’t.
