Daschle is apparently out as secretary of HHS. I was happy with the pick when Pres. Obama announced it, as it was a real sign that he 1. wants a comprehensive change in U.S. healthcare policy and 2. understood not to repeat Clinton’s mistakes concerning working Congress. I think Daschle probably could have weathered the storm, but I’m no fan of tax cheats. Cheating, or cutting corners or creative accounting is what rich people pay accountants to do. It’s not suprising that Daschle’s returns couldn’t pass scrutiny. Time to move on. Any dream picks for HHS? Rep. Pete Stark? I can dream…
